Vermillion – Main
The mission of the Vermillion Watershed RC&D is to develop and implement an action-oriented plan of resource conservation and development and utilization in Clay, Kingsbury, Lake, McCook, Miner, and Turner Counties in an effort to conserve, develop, and wisely utilize the natural and human resources within the six counties, and thereby improve the social, economic, and environmental resources of the area.
GOAL 1: CONSERVATION, IMPROVEMENT, AND MAINTENANCE OF NATURAL RESOURCES TO ENSURE PRODUCTIVE SOILS, CLEAN WATER, AND CLEAN AIR.
OBJECTIVE 1: Work with land managers to assist in the improvement and maintenance of land, water, and air through natural resource management that is profitable and sustainable.
GOAL 2: DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES TO CREATE AND MAINTAIN QUALITY JOBS AND SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES.
OBJECTIVE 2: Work to increase value-added agricultural activities (ethanol, direct marketing, farm diversification, livestock production, etc.).
GOAL 3: PRESERVE THE HIGH QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE REGION.
OBJECTIVE 3: Build the capacity of the Vermillion Watershed RC&D Applicant Area Council through the development of outreach materials and board member training.
OBJECTIVE 4: Work to create a positive attitude in communities that leads to community action, cooperation between communities, and cooperation between community organizations.
